Enzo Amore & Big Cass def. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (Kickoff Match)

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_KickoffTagMatch--d41f115df016b334863e50ef8fe0f1af

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Six nights after Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson laid out Enzo Amore with the Magic Killer, “Muscles Marinara” and the 7-foot Big Cass got some all-too-appropriate retribution against the so-called “good brothers” in the WWE Payback Kickoff Match.

Although the aggressive Gallows & Anderson impressively utilized divide-and-conquer tactics to keep Enzo on the defensive and isolated from his hulking partner, Big Cass turned the tide in a major way by overpowering the former Raw Tag Team Champions, hitting Gallows with the Empire Elbow and two big splashes in the corner.

Anderson saved Gallows from a third collision, pulling his partner away from the corner and forcing Cass to eat turnbuckle and a superkick.

Dazed but definitely not “sawft,” Cass tagged Enzo back in, and although Gallows & Anderson attempted to hit Amore with a second Magic Killer in less than a week, Cass took out Anderson with his signature Big Boot, which allowed Enzo to roll up Gallows — the legal man — for the three-count.

With a victory over the former Raw Tag Team Champions, Enzo & Cass could be closing in on the titles.

Will the talkative tandem soon become The Realest Champions in the Room?

Finn Bálor laid waste to The A-Lister and turned "Miz TV" upside down

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_miztv_finn--3cbb61ea916ac7ee7bbbbe2296acbdb1

SAN JOSE, Calif. – In front of a sold-out crowd on the WWE Payback Kickoff, Finn Bálor laid out The Miz with the Sling Blade after The A-Lister attempted to ridicule the first-ever Universal Champion.

It’s safe to say that since coming to Raw as part of the Superstar Shake-up, The Miz has not been having a very good time, whether it be experiencing the unhinged aggression of The Lunatic Fringe Dean Ambrose or suffering the brunt of Sister Abigail from surprise tag team partner Bray Wyatt in this past week’s Raw main event.

However, perhaps messing with Bálor on a special Payback Kickoff edition of “Miz TV” was not the best way to change that trend.

From the beginning of the interview, The A-Lister was less than complimentary toward his guest, questioning whether the promising Superstar felt like a failure after being forced to relinquish his Universal Championship due to injury.

The host went even further, casting doubt on whether the Irish Superstar can possibly reclaim the Universal Championship, especially against a tour de force like Brock Lesnar.

After Miz opted to use his wife Maryse as a shield for Bálor's imminent attack, the Irish Superstar decided to be the bigger man and leave “Miz TV” peacefully.

However, The Miz's continued insults ultimately encouraged Bálor to lay out the A-Lister with the Sling Blade.

Will Miz seek vengeance on Bálor? Is The A-Lister playing with fire? Will this be the beginning of a “must-see” rivalry? Find out Monday night at 8/7 C on Raw.

Chris Jericho def. United States Champion Kevin Owens

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_OwensJericho--5c3c5ef34611d124cdb9b091751c1195

SAN JOSE, Calif. — SmackDown LIVE, you’re about to get “IT.”

At WWE Payback 2017, four weeks after losing the United States Championship to his former best friend Kevin Owens at WrestleMania, Chris Jericho defeated the man calling himself “The New Face of America” to reclaim the star-spangled prize and officially join the Team Blue roster.

At the height of the action, Owens seemed to have the match won when he threw his former ally into the ropes for the Pop-up Powerbomb, but the veteran reversed the move into the Walls of Jericho.

The Prizefighter writhed in agony while trapped in the iconic hold, but he forced the break by getting his index finger on the bottom rope — just as he did at The Ultimate Thrill Ride.

Incensed by once again being foiled by Owens’ extended digit, Jericho proceeded to injure Owens’ left finger (and the rest of the arm) by crushing it between the ring post and the steel steps.

Following the attack on his infamous finger, Owens was unable to lift his former friend when he made another attempt at the Pop-up Powerbomb.

Seizing the opportunity as Owens clutched his wounded hand, Jericho successfully locked in the Walls of Jericho for a second time.

The champion was unable to extend his finger at this point in the bout and was forced to submit, marking the beginning of Jericho’s second United States Championship reign.

Because of his title victory, Jericho is headed to SmackDown LIVE.
Now that he’s moving on to the blue brand, a whole new crop of Superstars could be making “The List” sooner than later.

As for Owens, he might need to start thinking of a new nickname.
“The Old Face of America” just doesn’t have much of a ring to it.

Austin Aries def. WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville by Disqualification

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_payback_cruiser--12d20a4fab1ea7822975e37df021c773

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Austin Aries defeated WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville via disqualification when the titleholder shoved the official, but The King of the Cruiserweights retained the title since it cannot change hands on a disqualification.

WWE Payback marked an opportunity at redemption for Aries after he came close to dethroning Neville at WrestleMania 33.

Faced with a championship rematch, the challenger did not tremble under the pressure.
Aries quickly took control, utilizing mat technique to take Neville off his game.

While Neville stood in the corner showing his frustration, Aries boldly put his feet on the top rope as though he was sitting on a hammock.

Neville flipped the script, though, when he stymied Aries’ attempt at an aerial attack by dropkicking him off the top turnbuckle.

Neville’s arrogance nearly cost him when he took a moment to celebrate on the ropes, giving Aries the opening to kick him to the ringside floor.

The challenger seemingly had the title around his waist after connecting with a sunset flip into a powerbomb off the top rope before fluidly transitioning into a Last Chancery submission.

Seeing his reign as The King of the Cruiserweights fading, Neville resorted to shoving the referee, resulting in a disqualification.

Aries’ hand was raised in victory, but Neville still left with his crown intact.

Raw Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz def. Sheamus & Cesaro

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_HardysCesaroSheamus--9c62323956df3f8e2e85ce2145ad91e5

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Raw Tag Team Champions Jeff & Matt Hardy electrified the capacity crowd at WWE Payback by overcoming the tough-as-nails combination of Sheamus & Cesaro.

However, a brutal post-match assault by The Celtic Warrior and The Swiss Superman left the victorious titleholders completely obliterated.

Despite showing tremendous respect to The Hardy Boyz in recent weeks, the hard-hitting combination of Cesaro & Sheamus came to the WWE Payback pay-per-view determined to prove that “nostalgia act” was not enough for the seven-time tag team titleholders to maintain their place at the top of the mountain.

In the explosive matchup that followed, the No. 1 contenders would come at their high-flying opponents with everything they had, including The Swiss Superman’s Corkscrew Forearm/Cesaro Swing/Sharpshooter combination and an earth-shattering White Noise off the top rope by The Celtic Warrior.

Late in the match, however, Sheamus failed to see that Matt tagged in Jeff, setting up the younger Hardy to hit the Irish Superstar with a Swanton Bomb as he was trying to pin Matt, and Jeff subsequently secured the three-count.

After the match, Sheamus & Cesaro again showed respect to the Raw Tag Team Champions by shaking their hands in the center of the ring.

However, that display of honor was completely erased moments later, when the defeated Superstars suddenly attacked The Hardys and laid waste to the victorious titleholders.

In the wake of Cesaro & Sheamus' ruthless attack, how will The Hardy Boyz respond? Don’t miss a moment of Raw, airing Monday night at 8/7 C on USA Network.

Alexa Bliss def. Bayley to become the new Raw Women's Champion

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_rawwomens--ed5bfd875a09d767cf1a580a4319eb89

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Alexa Bliss had her eyes on making a huge statement to the Raw Women’s division after joining the roster as a result of the Superstar Shake-up.

In front of Bayley’s hometown, Bliss succeeded, dethroning the champion to usher in her reign of wickedness.

Bayley had 25 friends and family members in the sold-out crowd at the SAP Center, but the homefield advantage couldn’t halt the Ohio-born-and-bred Bliss.

The Huggable One showed a ruthless side early on, repeatedly smacking her challenger into the top turnbuckle.

After Bliss gained an early edge, Bayley took full advantage of a moment of arrogance as The Wicked Witch of WWE stood on the outside for a count of eight, taunting the champion all the while.

Bliss showed why she’s a former SmackDown Women’s Champion, though, staying alive by expertly countering a Bayley-to-Belly to throw the champion into the turnbuckle.

Bayley connected with a Randy Savage–inspired top-rope elbow, but the challenger still would not stay down for the count.

Frustration then set in for Bayley, giving Little Miss Bliss the perfect opening to toss her opponent face-first into the steel post and drive her into the mat for a decisive DDT.

Bliss played spoiler for the defending champion, and with that came the spoils of being the first Superstar to have reigns with both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.

Seth Rollins def. Samoa Joe

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_rollins--3b44be82f8d07d74c3523e974c5ce29c

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Samoa Joe nearly caused Seth Rollins to miss his second straight WrestleMania by tearing the MCL in his right knee weeks before The Show of Shows.

At WWE Payback, though, Rollins battled to earn his redemption, defeating Joe with a quick roll-up.

It was just weeks ago when Rollins fought to recover before prevailing against Triple H at WrestleMania.

After slaying The King of Kings, The Architect turned his attention to the man who nearly cost him everything: Samoa Joe.

The Kingslayer started the match with a fast-and-furious attack, taking every risk to knock down Joe.
But his formidable opponent only needed one shot at Rollins’ knee to turn the showdown 180-degrees.

From there, the bout became an exercise in punishment, as Joe twisted and smashed Rollins’ ailing knee just like a lion would toy with a gazelle.

The damage lingered with Rollins for the rest of the match, as every move of offense or defense resulted in him writhing in pain.

The Kingslayer fought through the agony, though, flying halfway across the ring for a crushing Frog Splash.

The hard-hitting Samoan tried to suck the life out of Rollins with a sleeper hold and looked for one more maneuver to finish him off, but The Kingslayer suddenly countered with a roll-up for the three-count.

Rollins had to feel vindicated with the victory, but as he hobbled to the back, it was clear he’d be feeling the effects of this battle for a while.

Bray Wyatt def. Randy Orton in a House of Horrors Match

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_HouseOfHorrors_2--a84db07ff040121ac49c6397acf3efd2

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Bray Wyatt overcame Randy Orton in an unspeakable House of Horrors Match, thanks in part to a surprise attack by Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers.

The horrific rivalry between WWE Champion Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt would reach a frightening new level when The New Face of Fear re-emerged after WrestleMania to challenge The Viper to a House of Horrors Match.

Though WWE’s Apex Predator admitted that he did not know what he was getting himself into, he was determined to defy Wyatt and accepted the mysterious challenge.

With very little known about the ominous contest, it was learned prior to the bout that it would be a No Holds Barred Match that would begin in Bray Wyatt’s mysterious House of Horrors and end in the sold-out SAP Center with either a pinfall or submission.

From the moment Orton was driven up to the House of Horrors, he encountered a series of terrorizing sights.
When he dared to approach the house, Orton spotted Wyatt in the window and proceeded to kick the door open.

There, The Viper stepped into a dwelling filled with truly unspeakable evil.
Among the dark distractions that filled every corner and shadow of the space, The Eater of Worlds appeared from nowhere and unleashed an all-out assault, dismantling both his opponent and the house.

Whenever Orton managed to gain an advantage, Wyatt would disappear, then use the interfering horrors of his establishment to regain the advantage.

The first part of this showdown culminated in the House of Horrors' kitchen, where both Superstars ruthlessly brawled with each other before Wyatt escaped by dropping a refrigerator on his adversary.

Making his way outside, The Eater of Worlds mystically turned the entire house from blue to red before taking his leave to finish the match at the SAP Center.

Back at the arena, a war-torn Bray Wyatt came forth, as speculation began to fly of an imminent forfeiture from Orton.
But, in the ring, The Viper was there to meet his foe with a chair already in hand.

Though Orton was clearly ready to use the No Holds Barred stipulation to its fullest extent, it wasn’t long before he was suddenly attacked, first with a two-on-one assault by Sunil and Samir Singh, and then by Jinder Mahal – who used Orton’s stolen WWE Championship as a weapon.

This onslaught allowed Wyatt to pick up the victory with Sister Abigail.

How will WWE's Apex Predator respond to Mahal’s attack en route to their WWE Championship clash at Backlash on May 21? Find out this Tuesday night at 8/7 C on SmackDown LIVE.

Braun Strowman def. Roman Reigns

PayBack - Full Results 20170430_Payback_RomanBraun--8f61c136f18e41057e6bf733f99b3af1

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Braun Strowman threatened to put Roman Reigns out of his misery at WWE Payback. He delivered.

Seemingly nothing could stop Strowman’s rampage heading into Raw's special event.
Since WrestleMania, The Monster Among Men had tipped over an ambulance with Reigns inside and destroyed a ring, but those were just appetizers — the main course came at WWE Payback.

Strowman wasted no time in bringing the pain, throwing Reigns into the barricade and chokeslamming him onto an announce table.
He followed by repeatedly kicking Reigns in the ribs and sandwiching him in the corner.

Reigns did not have a minute to breathe, let alone mount a comeback, until he took Strowman off his feet with a Samoan Drop.

Reigns refused to give in, driving Strowman into the turnbuckle twice before capitalizing with a Spear in the middle of the ring and two Superman Punches.

However, it was not enough to keep The Monster Among Men down for the count.

Strowman utilized his freakish strength by surviving all of that to defeat The Big Dog with a powerslam, but the beatdown did not end with the bell.

Instead, Strowman dented the steel steps with Reigns’ face until WWE officials pleaded with him to head to the back.

The officials then had to help the battered Reigns to a waiting ambulance.
When The Big Dog finally reached the ambulance, Strowman charged like an angry bull.

Fortunately, Reigns played the role of matador and stepped away at the last moment, forcing Strowman to crash into the ambulance door, tearing it right off its hinges.

For anyone looking to find an answer or scouting report on how to beat Braun Strowman, the answer became too clear as Reigns sat wounded in the ambulance: You can’t.
