Information from this page Nia Jax def. Alicia Fox (Kickoff Match)INDIANAPOLIS — Alicia Fox tapped into her feral side to put Nia Jax on her heels, but it was a tale of brawn over potentially cross-wired brains on the WWE Clash of Champions Kickoff when Jax powered her way to a win over the former Divas Champion. Alicia wisely stuck to what had been working for her and came out swinging — or kicking — right after the opening bell. But once Nia managed to get a hold of Alicia, it was turnbuckle city for The Foxy One, who found herself pounded into the corners by her imposing opponent. After her initial attack, Nia missed a turnbuckle charge and ran into the post herself, and Alicia quickly took advantage to mount a last-ditch offense. She certainly did enough to make Nia look human, landing a Scissor Kick for a two-count and escaping a powerslam. However, one last corner charge took the wind out of Alicia’s sails, and Nia finished the job with a Samoan Drop. Give Alicia credit where credit is due, as she took a Superstar who mainly relies on her power (and often her power alone) and forced Nia to adjust. She did just that. In the end, this was not an instance of being outfoxed. Simply outfought.

Chris Jericho def. Sami ZaynINDIANAPOLIS — Say what you will about Chris Jericho, but his “it” factor seems to be paying off lately. At WWE Clash of Champions, “The Best in the World at What He Does” defeated Sami Zayn, no doubt bringing a smile to WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens’ face, as he witnessed his current best friend conquer his former running buddy at Raw’s first exclusive pay-per-view. After the pair’s verbal sparring match on “The Highlight Reel” culminated in a ruthless, cell phone-assisted attack by Jericho two weeks ago on Raw, prompting Raw General Manager Mick Foley to give the combatant Superstars the opportunity to settle their differences one-on-one. With payback on his mind, The Underdog from the Underground began the showdown by hammering away at Jericho with a furious barrage of strikes, which took the decorated veteran off his game in the bout’s early goings. Nevertheless, Jericho was determined to give Zayn and the WWE Universe inside the Bankers Life Fieldhouse “The Gift of Jericho,” whether they wanted it or not. Despite absorbing a furious physical barrage from the passionate Zayn, including a spectacular Tope con Hilo, ring-shaking Michinoku Driver, daring DDT on the outside, and a wince-inducing Exploder Suplex, Jericho ultimately reversed the Helluva Kick into the Walls of Jericho, nearly forcing Zayn to tap out. Free of the dreaded submission hold, The Underdog from the Underground briefly seized the momentum with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Jericho stopped Zayn in his tracks with a well-timed Codebreaker en route to victory. Drink that in.

WWE Cruiserweight Champion T.J. Perkins def. Brian KendrickINDIANAPOLIS — Conflicted, T.J. Perkins must be. After overcoming 31 other competitors from around the globe to win the Cruiserweight Classic and become Raw’s first WWE Cruiserweight Champion, the so-called “Wrestling Yoda” made a forceful statement at WWE Clash of Champions when he scored a victory over the desperate and disrespectful Brian Kendrick to retain his title. However, the victory celebration was short-lived. Perkins put away his veteran opponent with a kneebar, then prepared to discuss his well-earned win in a post-match interview, but “The Wizard of Odd” had other plans. Interrupting Perkins’ remarks and shaking the victor’s hand — a gesture that he denied the champion just prior to the match — Kendrick followed up his faux sincerity with a savage headbutt, letting the WWE Cruiserweight Champion know that, even in defeat, Kendrick remains a threat to the titleholder. Going into the bout with malicious intentions, Kendrick — who scratched and clawed his way back to the WWE spotlight seven years after his release from the company — displayed the same aggression that brought him to the dance last Monday night, when he defeated Cedric Alexander, Gran Metalik and Rich Swann for the right to challenge Perkins at Raw’s first exclusive pay-per-view. Tenacious in his own right, with memories of once sacrificing a roof over his head for his dream of in-ring glory still fresh in his mind, Perkins overcame every tool in Kendrick’s arsenal, including Sliced Bread No. 2 and even an underhanded attack using the ring apron, to ultimately make the former WWE Tag Team Champion submit. Something tells us, though, that Kendrick’s quest for the WWE Cruiserweight Title is just beginning.

Cesaro vs. Sheamus ended in a No Contest (Match No. 7 in Best of Seven Series)INDIANAPOLIS — For two months now, the WWE Universe has been wondering whether Cesaro or Sheamus is the better man. After WWE Clash of Champions, they’re still wondering. The grueling Best of Seven Series between The Swiss Superman and The Celtic Warrior ended in a No Contest for Match No. 7, leaving the Superstars visibly frustrated and the WWE Universe buzzing over what comes next — to say nothing of who will get the promised championship opportunity that had been serving as the winner’s purse for the series. Perhaps it’s fair that no clear winner could be decided in the match: The two Superstars were neck-and-neck for the entirety of the contest, which was a testament to Cesaro’s resilience following continued punishment to his bad back. Despite the damage to his lumbar, Cesaro continued to dig in for second wind after second wind, rattling off an Uppercut Express, tornado DDT and a 619 — yes, that 619. Sheamus, for his part, answered with the Irish Curse, Cloverleaf and a Celtic Cross-backbreaker combo, all of which have been his bread and butter throughout the series. Of course, each time the two Superstars dug in, it meant they had to resort to increasingly desperate measures, hence a suicide dive from Cesaro that ended with him landing headfirst on the arena floor. (He even survived a Brogue Kick moments later). The bout eventually devolved into a slugfest of the most basic, brutal variety, with the two trading hands outside the ring and, ultimately, spilling out into the WWE Universe in a heap. After WWE doctors tended to a punch-drunk Sheamus and a wounded Cesaro, whose arm seemed to have been compromised, it was determined that the match must be called off on account of their injuries. Fittingly enough, despite the ruling, Cesaro quickly returned to the ring demanding their showdown be restarted, and The Celtic Warrior was hauled away by a team of medical officials, as Sheamus tried to fight his way back with every step. Would you really have expected anything less?

Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day def. Luke Gallows & Karl AndersonINDIANAPOLIS — Looks like The New Day isn’t in danger of, ahem, retiring as Raw Tag Team Champions anytime soon. Despite a determined effort by Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, who waged a brutal campaign against ya boys leading up to WWE Clash of Champions, New Day rocked Indianapolis and kept their title reign alive in the first match of Raw’s first exclusive pay-per-view since the Brand Extension. Gallows & Anderson, however, certainly made it an uphill climb for The New Day. They picked up right where they left off after Gallows took out Big E & Xavier Woods at ringside, while legal man Anderson set about dismantling Kofi Kingston in the ring. Impressively, Gallows & Anderson had an answer for every one of New Day’s greatest hits, including a Boot of Doom to Big E, and a chokeslam from Gallows to Kingston. But once Gallows & Anderson were separated, their well-oiled game plan went out the window. It was Big E who provided the difference-maker, shoving an interfering Gallows into the steel steps before Kofi swooped in with an over-the-top rope dive. With the referee preoccupied by the carnage, Woods smashed Anderson in the head with Francesca II and sent him stumbling straight into the match-ending Midnight Hour from Kofi & Big E. Goodnight, good brothers.

Raw Women's Champion Charlotte def. Sasha Banks and BayleyINDIANAPOLIS — One thing you can say about the Raw Women’s Championship Triple Threat Match is that everyone deserved to be there. Charlotte, the reigning champion; Sasha Banks, the beloved challenger looking to recover from the ultimate humiliation; and, of course, Bayley, the insurgent upstart who hugged her way into the WWE Universe’s heart the second she showed up. All proved themselves worthy to hold championship gold, but only one of these women actually could, and that woman is Charlotte. That’s right, the heiress to the wheelin’-dealin’ legacy of “The Nature Boy” found a way to win Flair and square, walking both in and out of the first Raw-exclusive pay-per-view as Team Red’s Women’s Champion. (The win was her 12 th consecutive pay-per-view title match victory.) Bayley, surprisingly, was all but written off by both Sasha and Charlotte, who threw hands with each other throughout the entirety of the contest. Bayley wisely used that disrespect to her advantage, throwing a wrench into each of her opponents’ momentum when they least expected it. It took interference from Charlotte’s enforcer Dana Brooke — legal, thanks to the No Disqualification rules of the Triple Threat — to take Bayley out of the running and keep the battle confined to Charlotte and Sasha. The downside to that was Bayley had more energy by the time she did rally, at which point Charlotte and Sasha had brutalized each other to the point of exhaustion. Bayley was quick to earn her competitors’ respect, but her more-seasoned foes had the veteran know-how to neutralize her comeback. Sasha, however, had taken severe punishment to her back, and was ultimately the first Superstar to be taken out of the equation when Charlotte hauled her off Bayley and threw her back-first into the barricade. Bayley unleashed a last-ditch effort in the pursuit of the miracle wins that have come to define her, but Charlotte would not be denied. The reigning Raw Women’s Champion escaped a small package and nailed Bayley with a big boot that also sent her stumbling into an interfering Sasha, then unleashed another boot that put Bayley down for three.

Roman Reigns def. United States Champion RusevINDIANAPOLIS — Sorry, Rusev. The honeymoon’s over. After celebrating his marriage to Lana for the better part of the last month, The Super Athlete suffered a bitter divorce from his United States Title courtesy of Roman Reigns, who left WWE Clash of Champions with Team Red’s star-spangled prize draped over his shoulder. As a beaming Lana looked on from ringside, Rusev used his size advantage to manhandle the challenger for much of the match — a rare predicament for The Big Dog. It was when The Super Athlete miscalculated an aerial attack that Reigns found his opening and went on the offensive, hurling his momentarily-dazed foe into the barricade and the steel steps. As exhaustion began to set in for both competitors, Reigns executed a perfectly-timed Superman Punch that bought him enough leeway to set up the Spear. The Super Athlete was saved, however, by a brief distraction from Lana, who left Reigns susceptible to a savage kick from Rusev that kept Reigns down for a two-count. Punishing Reigns with three more kicks to the spine, Rusev went for the Accolade, but Reigns was quick to his feet and even quicker to hit the Spear. In an attempt to force a disqualification win for her champion, The Ravishing Russian pulled the referee out of the ring before the three-count, prompting the official to eject her from ringside. Rusev was ultimately able to lock Reigns in the punishing Accolade — a move The Big Dog’s all too familiar with — but with no more distractions and no potential for interference, Reigns was able to escape the hold and hit The Bulgarian Brute with a second Spear, this one keeping Rusev down for the count. Rusev will undoubtedly look to regain his prize but, for now, Reigns is Raw’s proud bearer of Old Glory. Believe that.

WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens def. Seth RollinsINDIANAPOLIS — The Kevin Owens Show rolls on. The longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion of all time will extend his record now that Owens has defeated Seth Rollins in his first title defense at WWE Clash of Champions. That being said, Owens should probably send a fruit basket or something to his “best friend,” Chris Jericho, who teed The Prizefighter up for the maneuver that ultimately put Rollins away. All of which is to say The Architect should be doubly bitter over this loss, since he had promised to prove he was still “The Man” in WWE to Raw General Manager Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon (who he still held responsible for Triple H’s betrayal), and Rollins made good on that promise for the entirety of the match. Owens put up a smothering front, but Rollins hung tough, battling back from an attack that focused on his repaired knee and hitting Owens with a Frog Splash after K.O. accidentally put himself through the Spanish announce table. That was when Jericho, in a “Kevin Owens Show” shirt and his signature scarf, sprinted to ringside and swung the match, setting off a scuffle that ended in the referee getting, well, KO’ed. Not only did Rollins hit a Pedigree that went unrecorded by an official (the audience managed a 15-count, though), he was forced to fight off both Jericho and Owens before Stephanie sent out a replacement ref. By then, however, Owens was ready to go, and quickly put Rollins down with a Pop-up Powerbomb that Stephanie observed with an inscrutable expression from the entrance ramp. Redesigned. Rebuilt. Denied.
