The Hype Bros & American Alpha def. The Ascension & The Vaudevillains

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Hype Bros & American Alpha delivered a high-impact offensive attack en route to defeating The Ascension & The Vaudevillians in a huge 8-Man Tag Team Match on No Mercy Kickoff.

This big matchup wasn’t announced until hours before the No Mercy Kickoff, but that didn’t stop the Superstars in the contest from delivering in an action-packed showdown.

This isn’t the first time the teams of American Alpha & Hype Bros have battled on the same side in a large tag team clash, and it showed.

Mojo Rawley & Zack Ryder’s amped up style meshed well with Chad Gable & Jason Jordan’s athletic prowess, allowing the foursome to put the heat on their foes from the opening bell.

Simply put, Konnor, Viktor, Simon Gotch & Aiden English could not keep up with the high-octane energy coming from their opponents.

After a red-hot start, The Hype Bros & American Alpha were grounded thanks to a well-executed game plan from The Ascension & Vaudevillains.

However, once the action began to break down and competitors started hitting the ring left and right, Jordan & Gable took advantage of the mayhem by hitting Grand Amplitude on English to pick up the pinfall.

With The Hype Bros & American Alpha picking up the “w,” they now have momentum on their side and a much needed victory to elevate their respective standings in SmackDown LIVE’s competitive Tag Team division.

Now the question is whether or not either duo can capitalize on their No Mercy Kickoff performance.

WWE World Champion AJ Styles def. John Cena & Dean Ambrose

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — AJ Styles tapped out in the Triple Threat Match that opened WWE No Mercy, but he still managed to leave Sacramento with the WWE World Championship, defeating John Cena and Dean Ambrose to retain the title in controversial fashion.

The blockbuster main event, which, for the first time in history, kicked off a WWE Network special event, saw all three competitors approach the ring with supreme determination.
Cena was out to tie WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s record by claiming a world title for the 16th time.

Ambrose was set on regaining the championship taken from him last month.
Styles was determined to cement his place as “The Champ that Runs the Camp.”

All three Superstars wasted no time in trying to end the proceedings, going for their finishing maneuvers before taking each other out with clotheslines.

Cena showed off his incredible strength, catching a flying Ambrose and driving him into the ring post, then German suplexing both Styles and The Lunatic Fringe simultaneously.

Ambrose and Styles neutralized each other after a hard-hitting exchange, leaving Cena an opening to hit a double Five Knuckle Shuffle.

The 15-time world champion followed up with Attitude Adjustments on both Superstars, but could not pin Ambrose.

Styles found himself in a rough spot, locked in Cena’s STF and a Calf Crusher from Ambrose at the same time.
The champion had no choice but to tap out, but with two submission holds applied simultaneously, the referee could not declare a winner, instead ordering the match to continue.

Now with a second chance, The Phenomenal One put aside his flashy moves and took advantage of the anything-goes rules of a Triple Threat, clobbering Cena with a steel chair to get the three-count and hang on to the WWE World Championship.

Nikki Bella def. Carmella

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — After weeks of trying to fight off Carmella’s relentless and cruel attacks against her, Nikki Bella gained redemption by defeating The Princess of Staten Island in a hard-hitting battle at WWE No Mercy.

The victory was anything but easy as The Princess of Staten Island was determined to earn the biggest win of her career at the expense of Nikki.
Despite Carmella’s viciousness, Nikki remained resilient en route to conquering her rival.

Nikki was aggressive out of the gate, forcing Carmella to go on the defensive.
But, it didn’t take long for Carmella to turn the tables on the longest reigning Divas Champion ever, targeting her previously injured neck with utter disdain.

At one point, Carmella seemed primed to pick up the win after locking in the Code of Silence on her opponent.
However, after Nikki reached the ropes, Carmella lost her cool and subsequently, her focus.
This opened the door for Nikki to hit the Rack Attack 2.0 for the win.

With Nikki gaining the victory, will Carmella put a stop to her cruel actions against The Fearless Superstar? Or will this outcome further fuel the cruel Carmella?

SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno def. The Usos

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Heath Slater & Rhyno proved their SmackDown Tag Team Championship win over The Usos at Backlash was no fluke, as they defeated Jimmy & Jey at WWE No Mercy to retain their titles.

The Usos hit the unlikely champs with everything they had.
At the onset of the bout, Jimmy Uso tried to match power with The Man Beast, but paid for that immediately, as Rhyno muscled Uso across the ring.

Though the WWE Universe was firmly in the champions’ corner, The Usos succeeded in trapping Slater in theirs, taking control of the bout by force.

Rhyno turned the tides of the bout single-handedly, but The Usos took advantage of a distracted referee to weaken the ECW Original.
Jimmy & Jey worked over The Man Beast, but could not keep Rhyno from tagging in a fired-up Slater.

The One-Man Band survived an onslaught of offense from both Usos, who targeted his knee.
The Man Beast prevented Slater from tapping out to a Tequila Sunrise from Jey Uso, then tagged into the bout and clobbered Jey out of his highlighter yellow sneakers with a devastating Gore to retain the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, ensuring that the Slater family’s double-wide would be rocking in celebration.

Baron Corbin def. Jack Swagger

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In a hard-hitting rematch between two of WWE’s biggest hosses, it was an illegal eye gouge from Baron Corbin that spelled the End of Days for Jack Swagger.

These two heated rivals battled once already, with Swagger winning in controversial fashion after the referee called for the bell, believing Corbin had tapped out.
Their rematch at No Mercy proved to be as equally competitive and controversial.

Corbin wasted no time unleashing a ruthless attack against his patriotic foe, immediately going on the offensive.

The Lone Wolf’s callousness was on further display as he kicked the steel steps into Swagger’s left hand, causing The Real American to writhe in pain.

Swagger successfully slowed down his rival’s momentum, but was unable to capitalize thanks to his injured hand.
In the end, it was a controversial move by Corbin that proved to be the deciding factor.

The rugged competitor gouged Swagger’s eyes while the referee’s attention was turned away, before nailing the End of Days to pick up the victory.

Dolph Ziggler def. Intercontinental Champion The Miz (Title vs. Career Match)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Dolph Ziggler erased any doubts he may have had about his career as a WWE Superstar at No Mercy, defeating The Miz to capture the Intercontinental Championship and stay a member of the SmackDown Live roster.

With his career on the line, Ziggler fought with heart from the opening bell, wasting no time in going right after the champion.
However, The A-Lister employed a ruthless attack to take control of the match, grounding the fiery Showoff.

Miz reveled in getting the upper hand, taunting SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan, who he demanded a contract renegotiation from before the match.
The champion’s showboating gave Ziggler an opening to get back in the fight, unleashing a torrent of offense that nearly won him the match.

The Miz resorted to desperate tactics, attempting to use the ropes and pull his challenger’s tights for leverage during pinfall attempts, even exposing the top turnbuckle and sending Ziggler crashing into it, but was unsuccessful in retiring The Showoff.

The Miz targeted his right leg, but Ziggler survived the Figure-Four Leglock and more, rallying back to his feet and connecting with a Zig Zag.

Maryse and Ziggler’s former Spirit Squad teammates tried to end The Showoff’s career once and for all, but were thrown out of the arena for their meddling.
That allowed Ziggler to clock Miz with a superkick to win the title and keep his career on track.

Naomi def. Alexa Bliss

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Alexa Bliss had a rough night at No Mercy that started with her finding out she wouldn’t be challenging for the SmackDown Women’s Title and ended with her on the losing side of a fierce battle against Naomi.

On No Mercy Kickoff, Bliss was informed by Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan that Becky Lynch was unable to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship due to a medical condition.

Obviously, Bliss was not pleased with this news, despite also learning that she will get an opportunity to challenge the Irish Lass Kicker for the title on Nov. 8 in Glasgow, Scotland, on SmackDown LIVE.

Bliss’ night would not end there, however. Despite not knowing who she would be competing against until Naomi interrupted her pre-match rant against Becky Lynch, the No. 1 contender had no problem controlling the contest in the early goings.

Naomi proved to be resilient though, as she turned Bliss’ aggressiveness against her.
Bliss locked in a cross armbreaker on her foe, but Naomi shrewdly turned the maneuver around, pinning Bliss’ shoulders to the mat for the 1-2-3. The surprising loss left Bliss fuming in the middle of the ring.

With Bliss’ momentum coming to a halt thanks to her loss to Naomi, will she be able to bounce back in time for her SmackDown Women’s Championship Match against Becky on Nov. 8 in Glasgow on SmackDown LIVE?

Bray Wyatt def. Randy Orton

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Bray Wyatt has tried to get inside the head of Randy Orton in the weeks leading to their showdown at WWE No Mercy, but it was the menacing mug of Luke Harper that rattled The Viper long enough for The Eater of Worlds to steal a win.

Mind games were appropriately each Superstar’s primary tactic at the opening bell, as Wyatt tried to unsettle The Viper, while Orton reminded The Eater of Worlds that he could hit an RKO at any moment.

Wyatt gained the upper hand, snapping the Apex Predator’s neck across the top rope before taking the fight to the arena floor.

The Viper nearly connected with an RKO again, but Wyatt viciously tossed him over the announce table into the guardrail.
Wyatt unleashed a torrent of punishment on Orton, leaving The Viper reeling.

Despite Wyatt’s best efforts, Orton turned the tables on The Eater of Worlds, stunning Wyatt with a series of clotheslines and a big powerslam on the monster.

The bout spilled back out to ringside, where Wyatt put Orton on the steel ringsteps, only for the Apex Predator to evade a senton, leading Wyatt to crash back-first into the unforgiving steel.

No Mercy was Orton’s gameplan from that moment, as he slammed Wyatt into the guardrail spine-first, then connected with his draping DDT.

But Orton’s fortunes took a turn for the worse right there, as the arena lights went out and a hooded figure entered the ring.

When the lights came back on, the hood was pulled down to reveal longtime Wyatt associate Luke Harper.
Orton attempted to charge into the ropes and attack Harper, but ran into Wyatt, who drove The Viper into the canvas with Sister Abigail to earn the three-count.

With Harper back in the fold of his depraved flock and a victory over Orton under his belt, has Wyatt positioned himself to take over SmackDown LIVE?
