Kalisto def. Apollo Crews (Kickoff Match)

Extreme Rules - Full results 20170604_ExtremeRules_Kickoff--f542cd2e9c0fe7bf59d6dee216ee8590

BALTIMORE — Kalisto used a distraction from Titus O’Neil to defeat Apollo Crews with Salida del Sol on the WWE Extreme Rules 2017 Kickoff.

The athletic opponents started the bout with back-and-forth chain wrestling, with Kalisto’s high-flying style matched up against Crews’ powerful arsenal.

Crews took control early, but Kalisto possesses the ability to completely change a match’s trajectory at a moment’s notice.

His repertoire allows him to flip momentum with the ease of turning on a light switch.

He counters Irish whips with hurricanranas and reverses suplexes into devastating DDTs.

In their Kickoff showdown, Crews adapted to all of Kalisto’s twists and turns, but O’Neil’s presence continued to get in his way.

When Crews countered an aerial move with a dropkick on the outside, O’Neil celebrated as though it was his counter.

He talked strategy with Crews after every Kalisto kick-out, but O’Neil’s hands-on approach would cost Crews.

After Kalisto kicked out of a standing Shooting Star Press, O’Neil stepped onto the apron to argue with his protégé, but the distraction allowed the luchador to connect with Salida del Sol for the victory.

The Miz def. Dean Ambrose to become the new Intercontinental Champion

Extreme Rules - Full results 057_RULES_06042017ej_1065--a333ebf15ee25a8d81fafb221c409055

BALTIMORE – At WWE Extreme Rules, The Miz’s controversial tactics, combined with an accidental collision with the referee and the general commotion of an intense showdown, allowed The A-Lister to steal his seventh Intercontinental Championship.

Even before both Superstars journeyed to Raw as part of the Superstar Shake-up, The Miz made his opinion clear that Dean Ambrose is an unworthy Intercontinental Champion.

And after their title match on Raw ended in a disqualification, The A-Lister convinced Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to take the championship advantage out of the equation for the rematch.

At WWE Extreme Rules, if Ambrose were to get himself disqualified, he would lose his coveted title.

From the beginning of his 92nd pay-per-view match, The Miz tried every trick in the book to get The Lunatic Fringe to snap or to make the referee believe that the titleholder had broken the rules.

Though Miz was unsuccessful in causing Ambrose to get disqualified, the stipulation clearly took something out of his opponent’s game plan from start to finish, as The Awesome One maintained a decisive advantage throughout much of the contest.

With every minute, the battle grew more and more fierce, resulting in an injury to Ambrose's knee and the exchange of Figure-Four Leglocks.

During the height of the action, Miz once again tried to bring an end to the contest by having Maryse slap him.

Rather than call for the bell, the referee kicked The Awesome One's cunning wife out of the bout.
As the official worked to get her away from ringside, the turmoil continued in the ring, and Ambrose was thrown into the referee when his back was turned.

Thinking Ambrose smashed into him on purpose, the referee looked as if he was going to disqualify the titleholder.

However, before he could, Miz engaged his opponent from behind and hit him with a Skull-Crushing Finale for the huge victory.

Like him or hate him, the seven-time Intercontinental Champion once again stands at the top of the mountain.

But, with The Lunatic Fringe on the loose, how long can he remain there? Find out Monday night at 8/7 C on Raw.

Rich Swann & Sasha Banks def. Noam Dar & Alicia Fox

Extreme Rules - Full results 20170604_ExtremeRules_SwannBanksDarFox--39ca3f06f2c443e9df054faa486d3407

BALTIMORE — Rich Swann & Sasha Banks defeated Noam Dar & Alicia Fox in a Mixed Tag Team Match when Swann connected with a Phoenix Splash on Dar.

Banks and Fox kicked off the matchup, but when The Boss quickly took control, Fox rushed to tag in Dar by hugging him.

With Dar the legal Superstar for his team, Swann was forced to enter the bout for his side (per the rules of a Mixed Tag Team Match).

Swann did not feel the pressure in front of his hometown Baltimore fans, though.
He dazzled in the ring with a somersault legdrop and countered Dar's offense with a series of impressive kicks.

Banks and Swann’s great teamwork sealed the win when The Boss took down Dar with double-knees from the top rope to the ringside floor, and Swann rolled The Scottish Supernova back into the ring for a decisive Phoenix Splash.

Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss def. Bayley

Extreme Rules - Full results 20170604_ExtremeRules_BayleyBliss--671a4272b2830a54a2c83f3769078116

Alexa Bliss retained the Raw Women’s Championship against Bayley at WWE Extreme Rules in a Kendo Stick on a Pole Match.

Prior to their clash, questions circled whether Bayley would actually use the Kendo stick if given the chance. She insisted that she scouted ECW highlights and would be extreme enough to use the Kendo stick at will.

However, her hesitation in the match cost her the chance to regain the Raw Women’s Championship.
In the Kendo Stick on a Pole Match, the first competitor to retrieve the punishing piece of bamboo would be allowed to use it at will on her opponent.

So, when the opening bell rang, Alexa quickly ran up the turnbuckle to reach for the Kendo stick.
The rivals jostled for position on the top turnbuckle multiple times, even knocking each other to the ringside floor as the foreign object fell to the mat.

With the race to get the Kendo stick heating up, Bayley suplexed the champion to the mat, allowing her to grab the foreign object, but The Huggable One waited too long to use it after cornering The Wicked Witch of WWE.

A brief pause was all Alexa needed to spear the challenger and grab the Kendo stick before swinging away like Baltimore Orioles star Adam Jones, who happened to be watching at ringside, dressed as Virgil.

A Bayley-to-Belly Suplex briefly ended the barrage, but a DDT from Bliss secured the victory.
Anyone who doubts Bliss in the slightest can look at the welts covering Bayley’s body and know that it will take something supernatural to get the Raw Women’s Championship off “The Goddess of WWE’s” waist.

Cesaro & Sheamus def. The Hardy Boyz to become the new Raw Tag Team Champions (Steel Cage Match)

Extreme Rules - Full results 20170604_ExtremeRules_v_cage--3de96232bc9df4293636828d554f6e92

BALTIMORE — The veteran Hardy Boyz are known as one of the most extreme tag teams in the history of sports-entertainment, but when it comes to brutality, “The Bar” was raised at WWE Extreme Rules, where Cesaro & Sheamus escaped a steel cage with the Raw Tag Team Titles in their grasp.

Seeking to end the “nostalgia” surrounding Matt & Jeff’s triumphant return to WWE at WrestleMania 33, The Alabaster Gladiator and The Swiss Superman took the brothers to their limit at WWE Payback, going so far as to knock one of Jeff’s teeth out of his head (Sheamus was more than happy to take credit for that accidental dentistry).

When The Hardys defended the Raw Tag Team Titles that night, the disappointed brawlers snapped, brutalizing the brothers after the bell.

Cesaro & Sheamus would later earn the No. 1 contendership in a Tag Team Turmoil Match last month, but when Matt defeated The Celtic Warrior two weeks later, he earned the right to name the stipulation for the title defense at WWE Extreme Rules.

Matt chose a Steel Cage Match, in which the only way to win would be for both partners to escape the unforgiving steel.

Having competed in two of the three prior Tag Team Steel Cage Matches in WWE pay-per-view history, The Hardys went into this contest with a clear advantage.

Unfortunately, brute force and the numbers game trumped experience in this case.

After Jeff escaped over the top of the cage, Matt was in a 2-on-1 situation against the barbaric challengers, who nearly drove the disadvantaged champion through the ring with a modified double Razor’s Edge, followed up shortly by a top-rope White Noise.

To help even the odds for his brother, Jeff climbed to the top of the cage and hurled himself onto Cesaro & Sheamus with an awe-inspiring Whisper in the Wind.

The high-risk move briefly incapacitated Jeff and officially brought him back into the fray, and as Matt dragged his prone brother through the cage door, Cesaro & Sheamus climbed over the top of the steel structure and narrowly won the race against time.

Now that the title reign launched at WrestleMania has come to a disappointing end, will Matt & Jeff recapture Team Red’s tandem prizes, or will Cesaro & Sheamus continue to raise “The Bar” in Raw’s chaotic Tag Team division?

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville def. Austin Aries (Submission Match)

Extreme Rules - Full results 170_RULES_06042017mm_3226--75cb1885372184bbdd7226edec2e8dfb

BALTIMORE — Long live The King of the Cruiserweights.

Austin Aries has come closer to dethroning WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville than any competitor to date, but in a Submission Match at WWE Extreme Rules, A-Double was forced to once again bow to the cruel monarch.

In a clash of mat technicians that could only be won by making the other Cruiserweight tap out, Aries looked to end Neville’s historic reign by way of the Last Chancery, a move that defeated the WWE Cruiserweight Champion just six nights prior on Raw and nearly cost him the title at both WrestleMania and WWE Payback.

Unfortunately, Neville slowed the challenger down by targeting his injured knee, limiting A-Double’s varied arsenal.

Still, despite the excruciating pain, there was no quit in Aries, who finally managed to make Neville tap out to the Last Chancery — unfortunately, though, The King of the Cruiserweights was pounding the floor outside the ring and not the mat inside the ring.

Therefore, the match continued.
When Aries’ daring dive to the outside of the ring failed to find its mark, The King of the Cruiserweights seized a golden opportunity.

With a combination of desperation and cunning, Neville soared off the top rope onto a battle-weary Aries with a rarely-seen Red Arrow before quickly locking in the Rings of Saturn — the same move that incapacitated Aries days earlier on WWE 205 Live — to score the tap-out victory and retain the title.

Now that Aries has once again been turned back by The King of the Cruiserweights, what’s next for A-Double? As for Neville, only one question remains: Can anyone take the title from him?

Samoa Joe won the Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match to become No. 1 contender to the Universal Title

Extreme Rules - Full results 20170604_ExtremeRules_fatal5--e0a943a10e86025b6baf8bef0adc8f61

Samoa Joe entered the Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way No. 1 Contender’s Match as the only Superstar in the bout who hasn't won a World Championship in WWE.

He ended the night standing tall above four elite Raw Superstars with an opportunity against Universal Champion Brock Lesnar looming at WWE Great Balls of Fire on Sunday, July 9.

In an Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match, it’s every Superstar for himself — no friends and no rules.
But an early alliance between Joe and Bray Wyatt set the tone of Sunday night's showdown.

They took Roman Reigns out of the picture with the steel steps.
Then, they dented a steel chair over Finn Bálor.
They even DDT’d Seth Rollins on the steps.

The sinister partnership ensured they would stay in control at every turn.
When The Big Dog had Wyatt set up for a Superman Punch, Joe pulled The Eater of Worlds to the outside, saving him from certain destruction.
With a championship opportunity on the line, though, the alliance couldn’t last for long.

As Rollins dove toward Wyatt and Joe on the outside, The Eater of Worlds moved to the side and pushed his ally into the collision.

Wyatt seized the opening to drop The Kingslayer with Sister Abigail, but Joe rushed back to break up the pinfall.

The match truly lived up to its Extreme Rules stipulation when Reigns Speared both Joe and Bálor through the barricade and Rollins Frog Splashed Wyatt through the announce table.

With three competitors reeling on the outside, Reigns and Rollins brawled inside the ring, hitting each other with their signature moves and coming inches away from a title showdown against Lesnar.

Wyatt battled his way back into the fray, but was sent to the outside with a Spear from Reigns.
The Big Dog followed that attack by drilling The Architect with a Superman Punch.

Bálor then dodged Reigns' Spear attempt and capitalized with the Coup de Grace.
Before Bálor could attempt the pinfall, though, Samoa Joe returned to the ring and locked in a vicious Coquina Clutch, squeezing the life out of the first Universal Champion.

With Bálor unresponsive, the official called for the bell, setting up a dream showdown between Samoa Joe and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at WWE Great Balls of Fire.
